Marine Security Guard Detachment Niamey hosted its annual Marine Ball on November 11.
On November 11, Embassy Niamey staff, families, and friends joined the Security Guard Detachment in celebrating the 236th anniversary of the founding of the Marines. The annual ball is not only an opportunity to honor the Marines who defend U.S. missions worldwide, but a chance to thank them for the richness they add to Embassy life. From formal events such as the official Independence Day celebration to informal traditions like movie nights and the annual Toys for Tots drive, the Marines are true to their motto, “Semper Fidelis,” an ever faithful presence on countless Embassy occasions. We who have the privilege of working with them thank them for their unparalleled professionalism, dedication, and conduct, both on and off duty, and wish them a happy 236th birthday.
