U.S. Embassy commemorates Ramadan with Iftaar celebrations

In commemoration of the holy month of Ramadan, the U.S. embassy hosted two traditional Iftaar dinner celebrations.  The first, on September 27, 2007, was sponsored by the Embassy’s Public Affairs Section (PAS) and took place at the home of Public Affairs Officer Stephen J Posivak.  This was followed on September 29, 2007, by an event hosted by Ambassador Bernadette M. Allen at her residence.

The Iftaar dinners allowed the embassy staff to demonstrate their respect for local tradition and practices, and to help strengthen the mutual understanding that exists between the U.S. and the people of Niger. (more photos)
