Activist speaks out on rights of the physically disabled

On October 16, 2008 the U.S. Embassy’s American Cultural Center hosted a presentation by Mr. Soumana Pathé, a noted Nigerien activist and director of PRAHN, a local NGO promoting the rights of the physically-challenged.  The presentation centered on information Mr. Pathé acquired during his U.S.-sponsored participation in a November 2007 conference in Johannesburg, South Africa, which dealt with strategies for educational, social and economic integration of persons with disabilities in Africa.  The U.S. Embassy has participated in a series of activities in partnership with PRAHN to raise local awareness of issues related to the rights of the physically disabled.
