Respect of the Democracy (17 Aug, 2009)
The Government of the United States of America, joining with the voices of other advocates for human rights in the international community, calls on the Government of the Republic of Niger to release civil society activist Marou Amadou. We also call for the release of journalist Abdoulaye Tiemogo. In a democracy, respect for the rule of law and civil liberties, including the rights of free association, speech and press, must prevail.
