Temporary Embassy Travel Restrictions-Dosso

On December 10, a vehicle traveling near Maradi hit a landmine.  As a result, the US Embassy in Niamey is temporarily prohibiting all U.S. Embassy personnel from traveling east of the city of Dosso.  Americans who currently live east of Dosso are urged to stay at home and to avoid traveling at the present time.  We also continue to strongly urge American citizens to refrain from all travel north of Abalak.  This warden message will be updated as new information on the security situation on Niger’s roads becomes available.

American citizens may contact the Consular Section of the US Embassy in Niamey for more information. The Consular Section, located on the Rue des Ambassades in Niamey, is open Monday through Thursday from 8am to 5:30pm, and on Fridays from 8am to 1pm. Telephone: 20-72-26-61/62/63/64; e-mail: ConsulateNiamey@state.gov.   For after-hours emergencies, please dial 20-72-31-41.

Cordially,
